i haven't mentioned it until now (i'm not the greatest at self-promotion), but this summer i was honored to be chosen as one of a select few in Colorado and across the country to be a part of their Little Black Book. in their own words: "Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book is a highly edited collection of wedding service providers - from mom and pop boutiques to A-Listers. Personally recommended by our closest girlfriends, industry insiders and Style Me Pretty readers, there are three hand-picked listings per category. Brace yourself, though…it’s that good!" a huge congrats to Sarah and Joe! their gorgeous wedding at Devil's Thumb Ranch has been featured on the Little Black Book Blog CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE LITTLE BLACK BOOK BLOG again, a huge thanks to my good friend Jamee Pierzchala of Jamee Photography for helping me out at this wedding. you rock Jamee! here is one of my favorite shots of Sarah & Joe.
finally, if you have made it this far in this post, i wanted to share one of the most beautiful readings i have heard at a wedding. as a photographer, during the ceremony we are constantly on the go...like a ninja in the grass (i like that word picture) searching for our target, the right look, angle, the perfect moment and often times what is being said or sung or prayed often goes unnoticed. i remember this particular reading, standing in this gorgeous field in Colorado searching through the view finder and suddenly, my ears started to listen to the words being read, i remember slowly lowering my camera, to listen, to soak in these beautiful words about marriage. i don't think i shed tears (i wouldn't tell you even if i had), but i remember them imprinting their mark on my heart. read these words and you will understand the kind of people Sarah and Joe are, people to whom words are important and wedding vows are so much more than...words. Claudia and Michael have spent quite a bit of time here in Colorado. though they live in Miami, Vail has become one of their favorite locals for a little rest and relaxation and now they will have some amazing memories of a perfect wedding involving a their love, a moose, a canoe and so much more. Claudia and Michael were comfortable with each other and in front of the camera, so it made my job so so easy. they chose the most incredible location for their ceremony right on a Piney Lake about a 45 minute drive fom Vail...such a gorgeous location i will just let the pictures speak for themselves. after a picnic lunch, everyone returned to the SONNENALP IN VAIL for a black tie affair. ANGIE JOHNSTON OF SAPPHIRE CELEBRATIONS made the day run so smoothly and was so wonderful to work with. thanks Angie! JESSICA SHINYEDA OF THE FACE LAB helped to make Claudia look more beautiful than she already is...Claudia did an amazing job planning her perfect day. thanks for getting into the canoes guys...you made my day!! now to the photos. i had the opportunity to have my good friend and fabulous photographer JULIE AFFLERBAUGHalong with me for this one so many of the photos below are hers. some getting ready details.
on the drive up to Piney Lake
look at the style...love it!
Michael=calm, handsome and fun, the perfect groom.
Claudia and her Dad have a real connection and it showed throughout the day.
just after the ceremony, a moose came walking right by the ceremony site to wish them goodluck.
details from the picnic.
how gorgeous is this couple?
i asked them to get into the canoes they have tied up...they didn't miss a beat and jumped right in. i always say, the more adventurous the bride and groom are, the better the pictures and this proves my point.
the reception, the dancing, the love.
