GRAN & GRAMPS - AT HOME 06.29.2010 PERSONAL

last month i was out in LA shooting a wedding and i finally did something i have been wanting to do for a loooong time. i spent the afternoon with my GRAN and GRAMPS at their house. my grandparents are definitely the cornerstone of our family and have always been the best of examples in so many ways. they have been married now for 67 years, been in the same house for 50 years. a house that holds a lot of memories for me...so i spent the afternoon photographing them. i took portraits of each of them, and then i photographed them like i would for an engagement session. then i photographed their house and all the little details throughout...even my grans scary doll collection! ; ) if you are a photographer and still have the opportunity to to do this project for yourself, i can't recommend it highly enough...what a fun and emotional time it was for all of us.

throughout the afternoon, i shot a few images with my SX-70 land camera. i used fade to black film from THE IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT fade to black was pretty tough to use the first time out, but it sure was fun to get my hands dirty again. here is the set of polaroids i took minus one that i messed up when i cut the film apart. if you haven't heard of fade to black, check it out...it's a pretty crazy film.

here is a portrait of the house my grandfather built in 1952. (he can do anything with his hands).

portraits of gran & gramps on the porch.

lovey shots...it's not real clear in these images...but the way they look at each other is so cute. i photographed them in their orchard which is where i have so many memories as a kid.

here is another portrait of my gramps with his wheel barrow. the clearest image i have of my grandfather is his work ethic. once in chicago after building his house, he decided he wanted a basement, so he jacked the house up, put it on blocks and dug out a basement...all by hand. i have no idea what hard work is.

the digital images will be coming later this fall and of course i will be making a BLURB BOOK..eventually.

COVENTRY & DAVIS - VIRGINIA WEDDING PART ONE 06.10.2010 UNCATEGORIZED

Coventry & Davis...what an amazing wedding! i always feel so incredibly lucky and honored to work with the people that i do. the details of this farm wedding in Virginia and just the feel of the day was incredible. i am always so inspired by a new landscape and this time was no different. Jamie Haverkamp, an old friend of mine who is a staff photographer for a newspaper shot this wedding with me and Jamie was perfect, thank you so much.

Coventry & Davis hired an incredible planner who was a dream to work with!! ALLISON OF PINEAPPLE PRODUCTIONS was great at the design aspect and was on point every moment of the day...and did ALL of this with a great smile on her face. a big thank you to you and your team for making my job so easy. if you are planning a wedding any where in the Washington D.C. or Virginia area, i would highly recommend them to any bride.

so on to the photos. there were so many beautiful nuances on the property and the space was so inspiring...i may have overdone it on the details in this post...but i was in love so..here you go.

this incredible painting below (Airs 60in x 48in, oil on linen) was painted by Davis' mother who is a wonderful artist! you can see more of her work by clicking the following link: SUZI BERG WWW.SUZIBERG.COM
